A good documentary Photographer can get to the heart of the place, moment, person and situation. In this workshop students learn how photographers establish contact with people and interpret situation with clarity and honesty.
How does one overcome the fear of photographing and being photographed?

How does a photographer gain access?
What is the interview process?
Assignments challenge students to confront these questions as they create documentary images. Slide lectures and discussions provide an overview of documentary photography, as well as references for further exploration. Students have options of working in black and white or color.
